Midwest Shooting Competitions

Midwest Shooting Competition (MSC) is a 501(c)(7) not-for-profit shooting sports club based in Normal, Illinois, dedicated to promoting safe and competitive handgun shooting through IDPA (International Defensive Pistol Association) matches.

MSC facilitates monthly IDPA club-level matches and operates major regional championships across the Midwest. The club provides shooters of all skill levels—from beginners to advanced competitors—with opportunities to develop proficiency in defensive handgun skills using real-world concealed carry scenarios.

Club Matches: MSC operates Tier 1 IDPA club matches at Darnall's Gun Works and Ranges in Bloomington, Illinois. Monthly matches typically run on the first Sunday from March through November.

State Championship: MSC also operates the Illinois State IDPA Championship (Tier 4 match) at the World Shooting and Recreation Complex in Sparta, IL. This prestigious event draws competitors from throughout the Midwest and features 12 challenging stages for all skill levels from Novice to Distinguished Master.

The International Defensive Pistol Association uses concealed carry principles to create simulated self-defense scenarios. Competitors use their personal defensive gear and handguns in dynamic, practical shooting stages designed to improve real-world defensive skills.

MSC welcomes all shooters interested in IDPA competition and concealed carry practice. Whether you're new to the sport or an experienced competitor, matches accommodate multiple skill divisions. Spectators are also welcome at all events.

Beyond regular club matches, MSC sanctions premium competitions including the 2025 Gateway IDPA Championship, which benefits the BackStoppers organization.

MSC is led by President/Secretary/Treasurer Aaron Ragusa, with Board Members Jeff Nelson and Jeff Duckworth.
