Alton-Wood River Sportsmen's Club

The Alton-Wood River Sportsmen's Club has been operating in Godfrey, IL for over 75 years. It's a private non-profit organization that keeps membership costs low by running on volunteer effort and member participation.

• •Associate Membership ($120/year) gets you:
• •Access to Godfrey Lake for fishing (with valid IL license)
• •Dining room and Lakeside Lounge
• •Participation in regular activities and special events
• •Campground access at Godfrey Lake
• •No hunting privileges; no voting rights

• •Regular Membership ($270/year) adds:
• •Voting privileges at monthly meetings
• •All hunting at Pleasant Hill except waterfowl
• •Same lake and dining access as Associate members
• •Note: Deer hunting requires joining the deer list and SNYE Committee approval due to limited stands

• •Waterfowl Hunter Status is available for Regular members who contact the SNYE Chairman. This unlocks all hunting types at Pleasant Hill including waterfowl.

• •Godfrey Lake Rules cover fishing, boating, and recreational use:
• •Rod and reel or pole and line fishing only
• •Electric trolling motors permitted (no gas engines)
• •All boats must have Coast Guard-approved life jackets
• •No swimming, wading, or ice-skating
• •Archery deer hunting allowed October 1st – January 15th
• •Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult member
• •Organized groups of 10+ should check in with the manager

Pleasant Hill is the primary hunting grounds for members with appropriate membership status.

• •Clubhouse and pavilion at Pleasant Hill
• •Monthly membership meetings where members can participate and vote
• •Regular seasonal events and competitions
• •Dog training and working areas at both lakes

Volunteers make the difference. Without them, most activities would be costly and many would cease to exist.

The club actively recruits volunteers for trap shooting, bingo, grounds maintenance, and other activities. Volunteer hours count toward membership upgrades, creating a direct incentive to stay involved.
