Surprise Break's mission is direct: instill the discipline, knowledge, mindset, and tactics so students win a gunfight when it comes to them. They teach defensive fighting techniques to law-abiding armed citizens, military, and police officers facing violent, life-threatening conflicts.

NRA Certified Courses Basic Pistol, Rifle & Shotgun; First Steps series; Personal Protection (in home/outside); Defensive Pistol; Home Firearm Safety; Range Safety Officer certification. Prices $125–$425.

24-hour program (8 classroom hours + 16 range hours) designed for faith-based congregations taking member protection seriously. Covers threat assessment, active killer response, and tactical treatment of gunshot wounds.

Students train with the actual firearms they carry during services. Ammunition requirement: 800 rounds factory ammunition per student annually.

Pricing Structure: - Single-year option: $2,500–$3,500 (varies by group size) - Three-year contract: $4,000–$6,000 upfront with $1,000–$1,500 annual renewal - Individual rate: $675 first year, $450 subsequent years

One-on-one or couple training at $50/hour (single) or $75/hour (couple). Students work on their specific skill gaps with any firearm, progressing from foundational skills to advanced techniques.

Instructors include Kyle Yount, Jason Slider, Mike Colby, and Jack Scherbauer. Guest instructors available—recent offering: Knife Fighting with Michael Ruppert ($200).
