Full description and what we offer

Founded in 1949, Madison County Sportsmen's Club has built its reputation around education, safety, and community involvement in the shooting sports. They're not just a range—they're an active organization that sponsors youth programs, high school trap teams, and hosts regular competitive events.

  • Trap - Open daily 8 AM to 9:30 PM/sunset with electric auto-loading equipment and evening lighting
  • Skeet - Monday evenings (6 PM, March-September) and Thursday afternoons (4 PM, April-September)
  • Sporting Clays - Their most popular draw, bringing shooters from across the region
  • 3D Archery - Third and fourth Sundays monthly, March through October
  • Practical Pistol (IDPA) - First and second Sundays monthly
  • 2 Gun Competitions - Monthly events for members and guests

The Math on Membership: MCSC keeps dues affordable because it operates as a working club. Members volunteer 5 times per year (weekend volunteer time can be substituted with weekday projects). Public shoots and events fund operations.

Since 1949, the club's stated purpose has been to provide education in shooting sports safety and proficiency while promoting ethical hunting and outdoor activities.

MCSC actively encourages youth and women's participation through: - 4H Youth Shooting Program - Active and growing - High School Trap Team - Sponsored for Madison County students - Scholarship Program - Financial support for youth in shooting sports - Annual Game Feed - Free-will donation event at the Madison County Fairgrounds

Local law enforcement also uses the range regularly for qualification and practice.

The range accommodates shooting out to 100 yards with both daylight and evening shooting under lights. Safety is non-negotiable:

1. Both hearing and eye protection required 2. No firearms loaded until on the firing line 3. Actions remain open when carrying 4. Barrels pointed downrange on the line 5. Squad stays behind firing line during active shooting 6. Squad leader controls advancement between stations

MCSC maintains affiliations with the National Rifle Association (NRA), Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP), and US Sporting Clays Association (USSCA). Monthly club meetings are held the 3rd Monday of each month at 7:00 PM.

The National Wild Turkey Federation's local chapter hosts its county-wide Jakes Day at MCSC.
