Full description and what we offer
Wapello Chiefs Bowmen is an archery club based in southeast Iowa, located on an 80-acre property south of Ottumwa. Whether you're competing in organized shoots or hunting the grounds, there's year-round access for members.
The club hosts 3D archery competitions during summer months, open to the public. Each shoot features four courses with ten targets each (40 targets total). Pricing is straightforward:
| Participant | Cost |
|---|---|
| General Public | $12.00 per shoot |
| Club Members | $10.00 per shoot |
Children are encouraged to attend. One course of 10 targets stays up year-round for members to practice anytime.
Membership costs $45 (individual or family) and runs June to June. Members get:
Join at Steve's Archery in Ottumwa (641-799-2264), at any club shoot, or email the club. Dues are pro-rated if you join mid-year.
The club emphasizes building relationships around archery. New shooters and those learning the sport find mentorship here. The spring banquet recognizes achievements from both member-exclusive shoots and the previous hunting season, with a guest speaker and door prizes each year.
Wapello Chiefs Bowmen operates as a 100% IBA club, meaning all members automatically join the Iowa Bowhunters Association.
