Licklider Shooting Complex is a county-owned facility managed by the Cherokee County Conservation Board. Transferred to the board in 2023 from the Little Sioux Wildlife Association, this 50-acre property has become a straightforward resource for shooters in northeast Iowa.
Rifle & Pistol Range - Shooting distances: 25, 50, and 100 yards - Covered shooting shelter at 100 yards - New 50-yard shelter under development - Four trap fields installed - Support building scheduled for Fall 2025 completion
Ken Thomas Archery Area - Opened August 1, 2025 - Target distances: 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, and 60 yards - 3-D archery trail in development

Minors require direct adult supervision. Alcohol and illegal drugs are prohibited. Shooting must occur at designated range areas only. Range closure dates for special events: May 1-3 and October 9-11 (Cherokee Ridgerunners Rendezvous).

New shooting tables, 100-yard shelter roof replacement, updated electrical systems, and a rentable three-season day-use facility are planned.

- •All shooters and guests must sign in and out at registration
- •Minors must be under direct supervision of a responsible adult
- •No alcohol or illegal drugs permitted
- •Limit open shooting to 1 hour when range is full
- •All shooting must occur at designated range locations only
- •No hunting or camping on property
- •Violations may result in citations or revocation of range privileges
