Meridian Ordnance LLC is a veteran-owned gunsmith shop founded by Mike Owen after years building custom Kalashnikovs and working in U.S. Defense. Located in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, they specialize in custom AK and AR builds, refinishing, repairs, and NFA work—not production runs or quick turnarounds.

• •AK Variants — Meridian handles nearly all AK types: milled (Type II and III), stamped, Saiga, Arsenal, VEPR, 100 series, and commercial clones. Full kit builds from $345–$370 in labor. Saiga conversions start at $299. They're recognized armorers for JMAC Customs, Krebs Customs, KNS Precision, ULTIMAK, and others.

• •AR Platforms — Custom builds on their proprietary MO15E, MO10T, MO9G, and MO9K forged lowers. Chamberings include 5.56 NATO, .300 BLK, 6.8 SPC II, 6.5 Grendel, 7.62 NATO, 6.5 Creedmoor, and 9mm (COLT and GLOCK mag patterns). Professional build labor is free if you buy parts from them.

• •Everything Else — FAL kits ($450+), Galil builds ($450+), 1911 work, pistol optic cuts, scope mounting, trigger jobs, sight installation, detail cleaning.

Refinishing Options:

They handle BATFE Form 1 and Form 4 transfers. Stock suppressors, short-barreled rifles, short-barrel shotguns, and machine guns. SBR engraving uses a Gorton rotary pantograph—cut to proper BATFE depth, not laser-engraved like some shops.

De-ban services available for Clinton-era ban rifles (MAK90, MISR, MAADI, CUR, SAR). Legally modify and refinish banned-era AKs to modern specs.

They'll appraise firearms, handle consignments, manage estate sales, and auction items. "WE PAY MORE" and keep the process simple. Single pieces or large estates—they'll source a competitive deal.

Smaller jobs (pin/weld, NFA engraving, basic AR builds) complete quickly between larger projects. Custom AK builds and involved work take months due to backlog and single-at-a-time craftsmanship. Mike also serves with the KY Army National Guard, which affects shop staffing.
