Miller Long Rifles

Mike Miller builds historically accurate flintlock rifles and pistols—what he calls "useable historic art work." His interest in Kentucky's firearms heritage started as a kid watching Davy Crockett and Daniel Boone, and he built his first rifle from a CVA kit at age 12 with his father's help.

By 15, he was building stick rifles from barrels and locks sourced from Dixie Gun Works, using walnut stock from his grandfather's saw mill. In the late 1980s, American Pioneer Videos lit a fire that's still burning—he went from student to instructor on their "Building a Flintlock Kentucky Pistol" video and has appeared in several others.

Miller studied under some of the top names in the business:

He's worked consistently since 1996 and retired from the Paducah Police Department in 2003 to build firearms full-time. Now he can devote his attention fully to each custom gun.
