Adair Sportsman Club

Adair Sportsman Club operates five separate shooting divisions across their Columbia, Kentucky property at 7200 Fairplay Road in Adair County. Whether you shoot archery, pistols, rifles, black powder, or trap, the club maintains dedicated ranges and hosts competitive matches throughout the year.

• •Archery Division hosts the Sasquatch Trail Challenge, a family-friendly 3D tournament in June with separate divisions for adults (18+), teens (13-17), and youth (8-12). Pre-registration costs $10, walk-ups $15. The course features scenic 3D target stations, kids' activities, food vendors, and family competitions.

• •Action Pistol Division runs IDPA (International Defensive Pistol) sanctioned matches and bowling pin matches. The June bowling pin match starts at 6:00 PM CT on Mondays. Matches require eye and ear protection with no exceptions. The division emphasizes safety with strict range protocols including low-ready positions, range officer commands, and mandatory pin reset participation between matches.

• •Rifle Division supports non-sanctioned rifle matches and competitive shooting events.

• •Black Powder Division hosts black powder competitions and hunts.

• •Trap Division runs ATA (Amateur Trapshooting Association) sanctioned matches.

Military service personnel on leave from active duty get unlimited guest access.

As of February 7, 2024, current members need a gate code for entry. There's no paper application option—all members must complete the online application even if paying in person with check or cash.

• •Monday-Saturday: 8:00 AM to 30 minutes after sundown (excludes trap shooting)
• •Sunday: 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM CST (no exceptions)
• •Range availability depends on scheduled events and matches

• •Prohibited Items: No fully automatic firearms, no .50 BMG rifles, and no explosive/incendiary targets (including Tannerite and Star Targets). The club board has banned all explosive or improvised explosive devices for target use.

• •Safety Rules:
• •No alcoholic beverages on grounds
• •Place all targets at the base of berms where bullets impact
• •No shooting at facilities, buildings, trap houses, lights, glass, or barrels
• •Keep the gate locked when entering and leaving
• •ATVs prohibited on grounds
• •All trash must go in barrels or leave with you

• •Weather Policy: Range bays aren't fully sheltered. Most events proceed in rain, but if tornado warnings, severe weather warnings, or lightning occur, all ranges must be evacuated immediately.

Regular monthly meetings happen the first Tuesday of each month at 5:00 PM CT at club grounds. The club partners with 4-H, Boy Scouts of America, the NRA, 4th District League of Kentucky Sportsmen, Armed Women of America (The Well Armed Woman), and Kentucky Hunter Safety programs.

Competitive matches for ATA trap and IDPA pistol require sanctioning organization membership (purchasable at matches). Non-sanctioned events include rifle matches, black powder events, and archery tournaments. Club membership isn't required for match participation, though it's encouraged.

• •Important: Some or all ranges may close during scheduled matches. Check the event calendar frequently for approved events and ground/range closings.

Members who violate club rules face privilege suspension, membership revocation, and future membership denial. Members are legally and financially responsible for any injury to other people or property damage they cause. As a member, your dues maintain the facility—the club asks everyone to respect it accordingly.
