All firearms sales require compliance with federal and state law:
- •Background Check Cost: $40 (paid to Bowie Outfitters at pickup)
- •Form 4473: Required for all firearms transfers
- •Transfer Fees: Paid directly to Bowie Outfitters
- •FFL-to-FFL Shipping: Available from Bowie Outfitters FFL services to your preferred dealer (fee based on weight/box size)
- •Direct Shipping: USPS shipping plus $8.99 handling fee per box
Out-of-state buyers must transfer modern firearms through a Licensed Firearms Dealer in their state. Your state FFL may charge an additional transfer fee.
If you're bidding on suppressed or other NFA items:
- •$200 Federal Tax Stamp required per transfer
- •Forms required: ATF Form 4, fingerprint card, ATF Form 5330.20 Certificate of Compliance
- •Processing time: BATFE can take 120+ days for approval
- •Tax stamp issued once approved; no additional tax after transfer
- •Prohibited in these states: California, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Iowa, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Washington D.C., Washington
You're entering a binding contract with no refunds or bid cancellations. Read this:
You cannot bid on firearms if you: - Are a convicted felon (even with voting rights restored) - Have a domestic violence conviction (misdemeanor or felony) - Are under a restraining order or domestic-related charges - Cannot pass a federal background check
If you win and fail the background check, Bowie Outfitters charges a 20% restocking fee and relists the item. You cannot have someone else take the background check for you.
You're responsible for verifying that any item you bid on is legal to possess in your state, county, township, or municipality. Laws vary significantly, and the auctioneer, seller, and transfer agent don't determine legality based on your location.
All disputes are filed in Livingston Parish Circuit Court under Louisiana law. Bidders who fail to complete purchases are banned from all future Bowie/Henderson auctions and may face civil or criminal violations.
