1041 Tactical Training offers NRA-certified instruction and intermediate-level courses tailored to shooters at every level. Founder Scott Lovin and his team are all certified Range Safety Officers and active competitive shooters—meaning they bring real-world experience to the classroom.
Introductory Courses: - Basics of Pistol Shooting (NRA) — marksmanship fundamentals, stance, grip, trigger control, qualification targets - Basic Shotgun (NRA) — safe handling, ammunition knowledge, shooting a moving target at the 5 Stand course - Intro to AR-15/Modern Sporting Rifle — function, controls, sight alignment, shooting from cover and on the move
Defensive & CCW: - Defensive Handgun 1/NRA CCW — covers safety, awareness & mindset, drawing from conceal, extensive live fire - Defensive Handgun 2 (Intermediate) — speed and accuracy under stress, +300 rounds minimum, tactical drills (F.A.S.T., Dot Torture), shooting from/around cover, weak-hand shooting
Competition Intro: - Introduction to USPSA and IDPA matches — stage assessment, scoring strategy, gear classes, planning your first competition
"Scott's class for CWP is a must... He showed a thorough knowledge of shooting and worked with every student to help them improve their skills. By the end of the class the group was using 9mm pistols to hit steel targets from 75 feet!" — Jeffrey Petrie
Defensive Handgun 2 ($200 weekdays / $275 weekends) expects you to bring 300+ rounds and assumes sound basic shooting skills. You'll benchmark performance against tactical drills and walk away with benchmarks you can practice solo. Loaner gear provided; bring your own duty-size pistol, gun belt, and holster.
All instructors are NRA-certified and competitive shooters—they know what works under pressure, not just theory.
