Full description and what we offer
Katahdin's Shadow Outfitters bases their bear operations out of Maine's famous Haynesville Woods in Aroostook County. One-week hunts cost $2,950 and include 6 days of hunting over bait, lodging at the lodge with shower and running water, complete guide service, all meals (including lobster and steak Sunday night), and full game retrieval and field dressing. They also offer a second bear trapping option for $1,500 additional.
The operation runs over 100 bait sites across 130+ square miles of exclusive hunting territory with typical 98% daily activity. They typically maintain no more than 10 hunters per week with a maximum of 3 hunters per guide. Sites are baited 30 days in advance and every day during season. Hunters can use rifle (.30 caliber or larger recommended), handgun (.41 Magnum minimum), archery, crossbow, pistol, muzzleloader, or shotgun. Both ground blinds and tree stands are available.
2025 Bear Season Dates: - Week 1: August 24–31 - Week 2: August 31–September 7 - Week 3: September 7–14 - Week 4: September 14–21
Never more than 3 hunters per guide and no more than 10 hunters per week ensures personal service and fresh bait sites.
Once you've drawn a Maine moose license, Katahdin's Shadow handles the rest. One-week moose hunts run $5,000 with one-on-one guide service. Their method is calling and stalking—described as the most productive and exciting approach. They scout for trophy-class bulls before season begins across areas with excellent moose numbers.
The package includes guide service, meals, lodging, moose retrieval, and transportation. They also offer meat cutting service where your moose gets cut, wrapped, and frozen for your trip home. For those who prefer independence, camp-only rentals are available.
Wild turkey populations in Maine have rebounded dramatically thanks to the National Wild Turkey Federation and Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. Many of their hunters successfully harvest 20+ pound birds each year. They provide decoys and do the calling for you—or you can call your own turkey if you prefer. Hunts focus on pre-scouted roost locations.
They offer two deer hunting packages:
Option A – Camp Rental Only: $500/person (5 days) Perfect for experienced hunters or those returning yearly. Scout and explore thousands of acres across their vast territory with minimal hunting pressure. Archery hunting runs end of September through October. Muzzleloader season follows rifle season.
Option B – Semi-Guided Rifle & Archery: $750/person For first-time Maine hunters. They take you into pre-scouted areas where they know deer are present, suggest tree stand placement, and spend two days showing you the terrain and hunting strategy. You hunt independently while they handle game retrieval and field dressing. Archery hunting offers exceptional opportunities with low pressure before rifle season. Muzzleloader hunting in December often includes snow—ideal for tracking.
A 4-wheel drive vehicle is recommended for all deer hunts.
Located on a paved road in Linneus, Maine, the lodge features comfortable beds with linens, running water, hot showers, and TV. They serve three home-cooked meals daily with a full breakfast menu (eggs any style, pancakes, French toast, bacon), huge lunches, and hot meals after hunting. Sunday night includes lobster and steak. Freezers at the lodge keep harvested game frozen for your return trip.
