LaMarca Outfitters was established in 2021 by John LaMarca, a native Mainer and registered Maine guide with years of field experience. The outfit specializes in guided hunting expeditions and educational classes that take hunters from zero experience to field-ready confidence.

Moose hunting is the flagship service. LaMarca partners with Moose Maine and hunts three distinct regions:

• •Northeastern Corner (Zone 11) - Rolling hills, lakes, swamps with selective harvest cutting. Thick with small trees, visibility limited. Close-range encounters typical (under 50 yards, often 30 yards or less). Fewer permits, minimal hunting pressure.

• •Western Maine Mountains (Zone 4) - Highest moose density in the world. Some areas average 12 moose per square mile, territory-wide average 8 per square mile. Heavily forested with varying age classes. High permit availability but heavy hunting pressure requires extra effort to access premium areas. Hunts from Cozy Cove Cabins on Big Wood Lake or remote tent camps.

• •Central Woodlands (Zone 5) - Heavily forested with clear cuts and replanted areas. Most wildlife sightings due to open nature. Large bulls shy and difficult. Most productive hunting at edges where cover meets water. Hunted from remote outpost camps or tents.

• •All prices plus tax and gratuities

Camp Fork-Horn sits on 30 exclusive acres with a managed .6-acre clearing called "Merrymeeting Meadow." The property overlooks prime deer movement corridors.

Semi-Guided Deer Hunt - Half week (Mon-Wed or Thu-Sat): $900/person, $1,700 for 2 people - Full week (Mon-Sat): $1,700/person, $3,200 for 2 people - Available for archery, rifle, and muzzleloader seasons - Propane heated, free lunch provided - Special rates on local hotel lodging

Both classroom and field-based courses run 3 hours with 45 minutes in-the-field instruction.

• •Deer Hunting 101 covers sign reading (scrapes, rubs, trails), deer behavior and feeding, gear selection, camouflage rationale, calling techniques, and hunting strategy. Classes go from absolute beginners to refresher courses for experienced hunters.

• •Beaver Trapping 101 teaches trap setting, beaver behavior, humane practices, trapping history, fur market economics, and fur craft techniques. Includes 1-on-1 "ride along trapline" options.
