Full description and what we offer

Geared Up Firearms, Training and Accessories handles what Maryland shooters actually need: licensing courses, carry permits, and defensive instruction. They're no longer selling firearms, but they've doubled down on what they do best—getting people trained and legally compliant.

  • HQL Class - Handgun Qualification License training to purchase regulated firearms
  • Wear and Carry Class (W&C) - For shooters eligible to carry in Maryland, covering current state laws as of 10/23
  • Defensive Pistol Class - Hands-on defensive training
  • One-On-One Training - Personalized instruction for shooters who need extra practice
  • Utah Carry Class - Non-resident permit option

They handle the paperwork side so you don't have to—applications, fingerprinting, notarization ($4 per signature). In-house fingerprinting happens during class.

Classroom Equipment: Geared Up keeps multiple firearms in their training space so students can get hands-on experience during instruction rather than relying on theory alone.

19 North Court Street, Westminster, Maryland 21157 Phone: 410-707-3429 (text preferred) Hours: By appointment only or during scheduled class times

Check their calendar on the website for available class dates. They follow the Carroll Community College snow emergency plan, so weather closures are aligned with the college schedule.

The business lost its Federal Firearms License due to clerical issues and stopped selling guns. Rather than fold, they've committed to serving their customer base through training and support services. The instructors are knowledgeable and the operation is transparent about what they can and can't do now.
