Full description and what we offer
The Izaak Walton League – Rockville Chapter has been anchoring outdoor conservation in the region since 1933. Based on scenic grounds within Seneca Creek State Park, this all-volunteer nonprofit operates on three pillars: conservation, education, and recreation.
The IWLA mission: "to conserve, maintain, protect and restore the soil, forest, water, and other natural resources of the United States and other lands; to promote means and opportunities for the education of the public with respect to such resources and their enjoyment and wholesome utilization."
Members and guests have access to 51+ acres for outdoor activities. Current programs include:
This isn't a staff-driven operation. Members volunteer to maintain the grounds, lead instruction, organize events, and manage programs. New members are encouraged to get involved—whether that's leading conservation projects, teaching skills, or helping with chapter administration.
Membership meetings happen the first Friday of each month at 8 PM, offered both in-person and via Zoom. New members are introduced at the start of each meeting.
