Full description and what we offer

Mike Brown started his career in public safety as a U.S. Air Force Security Police officer, serving tours in Texas, Korea, and Guam before a Presidential Support assignment at Andrews Air Force Base. After graduating the Prince George's County Municipal Police Academy in 1990, he spent his law-enforcement career as a certified instructor in firearms, RADAR, interview & interrogation, emotional intelligence, and court testimony.

When Maryland became a shall-issue state, Brown saw a gap: responsible citizens were getting permits, but many didn't understand Maryland carry law, self-defense standards, or what to do after an incident. He built MMB Firearms Training to fix that.

Maryland HQL — $125 Required before purchasing or receiving a handgun. Covers state firearm laws, handgun mechanisms and operation, and home firearm safety.

Maryland Wear and Carry (Initial) — $250 16 hours of instruction covering firearm safety, state and federal laws, conflict de-escalation, and live-fire proficiency. Applicants must achieve 70% accuracy on state-mandated qualification.

Maryland Wear and Carry Renewal — $125 8-hour state-approved course for permit renewals. Reviews legal updates, safe handling, storage requirements, and transportation regulations, plus live-fire qualification.

Maryland Security Guard Training In partnership with Practical Toter Training Academy, MMB offers unarmed and armed security instruction focused on legal authority, use-of-force decision-making, de-escalation, report writing, and courtroom-defensible practices. Training designed for real-world operations, not just box-checking.

Every course emphasizes the ethical and legal responsibilities of carrying or using a firearm—not just the mechanics.
