Action Pistol Group has been hosting firearms training and shooting sports competitions since 2002. Based at the Cameo Shooting and Education Complex (3934 I-9/10 Road, Palisade, CO 81526—3 miles east of Palisade off I-70 Exit 45), APG operates as a private, non-profit organization focused on public awareness and education about firearms and shooting sports.
APG sponsors monthly matches in four major competitive shooting disciplines:

Shooters arrive 90 minutes early to help with stage construction at summer and winter matches.
APG offers NRA-certified instruction through multiple courses:
- •Basic Pistol with Concealed Carry ($175 per person)
- •Meets Colorado state requirements for concealed carry permit renewal in Mesa County
- •Mix of male and female NRA-certified instructors
- •Classroom and live-fire exercises
- •Covers gun safety, firearms law, safe operation, maintenance, concealed carry techniques, situational awareness, and defensive mindset
- •Includes written competency exam and live-fire exercise
- •Conducted by Mesa County Verified Instructors
- •Classes held throughout the year at CSEC Loft and Bay 14
- •Minimum class size: 6 students; register by Wednesday before class
- •Introduction to Competitive Shooting (Monthly)
- •3 hours of instruction by certified IDPA and USPSA Range Safety Officers
- •Covers rules and fundamentals of IDPA, USPSA, and SCSA
- •Includes live-fire shooting from each discipline
- •Classes: 9:30am (April-October), 11:30am (November-March)
- •Report 30 minutes early
- •Register by Wednesday before class; minimum 6 students
Additional NRA Courses Available - NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting - NRA Basics of Rifle Shooting - NRA Instructor Pistol Shooting - Concealed Handgun Permit Renewal
- •Pistol in good condition, cleaned and lubricated (minimum 9mm or .38 Special)
- •Magazines or speed loaders (minimum 2, preferably 3)
- •100 rounds of ammunition
- •Eye protection (required)
- •Electronic hearing protection (electronic systems only; ear plugs or barrier muffs not acceptable; APG rents electronic protection for $10/day)
- •Belt-carried holster (required for competitive classes, not for Basic class)
- •Magazine/speed loader carrier (if available)

Registration and payments handled through PractiScore for all sanctioned matches. Search "Cameo" to find APG matches. Pre-registration required.
IDPA Notice (effective July 31, 2025): HQ IDPA is prohibiting use of the SIG Sauer P320 in all variants from IDPA competitions. APG complies with this directive.
- •New shooters welcome if they can safely draw from a holster and follow basic gun safety rules
- •IDPA membership not required to participate, but required if you want classification data submitted to IDPA for sanctioned matches
- •All APG matches are open to non-members
