ATEi does one thing and does it extensively: mill pistol slides to accept direct-mounted mini red dot sights. They're not a gun store. They don't sell pistols. They take your slide—or your whole gun—and machine it to run a combat optic the right way.
Pro Cut ($160) - Precision pocket milled to exact optic dimensions - Zero gap between pocket and optic sight - Requires you to send the optic for custom machining - Recommended for duty, defensive, or home defense applications - Available for both standard (RMR-sized) and micro optics (RMRcc, 407K, 507K, EPS, EPS Carry)
Universal Cut ($130) - One pocket fits multiple RMR-footprint optics - Compatible with: Trijicon RMR/SRO, Holosun 407C/507C/508T, Ameriglo Haven - No optic needed to order—ATEi mills it without seeing your sight - Expect gaps in the pocket that could shift under hard impact - Not recommended for duty use
Not all "optic ready" slides are equal. Factory MOS slides (Glock, HK VP9) come with adapter plates, not direct mounts. ATEi can sometimes retrofit MOS pockets for direct mounting on specific models—but it's not the same as their Pro Cut.
Full-size & compact slides (RMR footprint or larger optics): - Glock 17/19/23/26/34/41/45 and Glock 17L/24 - S&W M&P 9mm/.40/.45/10mm (3.6", 4", 4.25", 5" and Compact variants) - Sig P226 Legion, P229, P320, P320 Full Size - HK VP9, VP9 SK, VP9L-B, USP 40 - FN, CZ P-07/P-09/P-10/P-10C - 1911/2011 slides (direct mount or via Trijicon 1911 RMR Mount)
Micro optic slides (smaller footprint guns): - Glock 42/43/43X/48 - S&W Shield, Shield Plus (NOT .380 EZ) - Sig P365 - Springfield Hellcat, EMP - CZ 75 SP-01, Shadow 2
Clamp-mounted optic slides (ACRO, 509T, Steiner MPS): - Glock 17/19/23/26/34/41/45 - S&W M&P (requires laser-welded pad) - HK VP9/VP9 SK/VP9L-B - CZ P-07/P-09/P-10/P-10C

What ATEi won't mill: Holosun SCS (designed for factory optic-ready slides only), Archon Type B, Springfield XD series, HK USP9, HK P30, most Sig two-piece slides. Some slides like the Steyr L9-A2 MF have internal geometry that blocks optic mounting entirely.
Some slides have internal voids or geometry issues that prevent direct optic mounting. ATEi solves this by laser-welding metal plugs or pads:
Laser welding adds cost and extends turnaround time (slides ship out for external welding). Without it, some optics simply won't mount safely.
ATEi uses 6-40 flathead screws (stronger than manufacturer 6-32 screws) for most optic installs. This allows more thread engagement and generally eliminates the need for Loctite.
Every slide comes with an instruction card showing how to remove screws without stripping, plus the correct allen wrench.
You can't use factory-height rear sights with an optic mounted. ATEi offers Ameriglo tall sights positioned for lower 1/3 to 1/4 co-witness:
Some platforms can keep their factory rear dovetail with optics mounted. Others require milling a new dovetail in front of the optic:
Can use factory dovetail (RMR footprint): - Glock 17/19/23/26/34/41/45 - Sig P226 Legion, P229, P320 - HK VP9/VP9 SK/VP9L-B, USP 40
Cannot use factory dovetail (rear sight in front of optic required): - Glock 42/43/43X/48 - S&W Shield/Shield Plus - Vortex Venom/Viper (too long) - Deltapoint Pro (too long) - Aimpoint ACRO
ATEi mills 1911 and 2011 slides using the Trijicon 1911 RMR Mount, which includes integrated rear night sight and front night sight. Accepts any RMR-footprint optic: - Trijicon RMR/SRO - Ameriglo Haven - Holosun 407C/507C/508T
For direct micro optic mounting on 1911s (RMRcc or K-footprint only), you'll lose front sight usability due to optic height. ATEi recommends the Trijicon mount for backup sights instead.
ATEi offers screw removal for stripped or broken fasteners. Cost depends on difficulty and time required.
ATEi stocks some optics and can special-order others depending on availability. Not every optic model stays in stock.
