Dinsmore Defense is a husband-and-wife firearms instruction team serving Lansing, East Lansing, Ann Arbor, Howell, Jackson, and surrounding mid-Michigan communities. Matthew and Barbie Dinsmore are USCCA Certified Instructors focused on making quality CPL training affordable and accessible.

CPL Classroom Training - $65 mixed-gender classes led by Matthew - $65 ladies-only classes led by Barbie (weekends) - In-person instruction in Webberville near Lansing - Virtual classroom via Microsoft Teams or Zoom - Easy I-96 access with McDonald's 1.5 miles away

Private Training Sessions - $50/hour pricing (2-10 hour packages available) - Ladies-only private sessions with Barbie - Mixed private sessions with Matthew - Flexible weekday evenings and weekend scheduling - Tailored to your skill level

Matthew Dinsmore founded the company and brings extensive training credentials. He's trained under Tim Herron, Scott Jedlinski (Modern Samurai Project), Tony Cowden (Capable Inc.), and Haley Strategic. Matthew competes regularly in IDPA, A.C.T.S., two-gun (rifle & pistol), USPSA, and Steel Challenge matches, keeping his real-world skills sharp.

Barbie Dinsmore specializes in women's firearms instruction and has mastered concealed carry for nearly two decades. She's expertise in selecting firearms and gear optimized for active women and moms, and brings an engaging teaching style to every class. She balances her instruction with running marathons, raising dogs and kids, and staying actively trained.

Dinsmore Defense teaches that shooting is a perishable skill. They equip students with knowledge for both live-fire practice at ranges and dry-fire techniques at home. The curriculum integrates life-saving skills like tourniquet use and basic trauma care alongside marksmanship. Training covers high-stress self-defense scenarios, situational awareness, and sound judgment under pressure.
