Live Safe Academy has been teaching firearms and self-defense training in Michigan since 2000. They were one of the first schools certified to provide Michigan Concealed Pistol License training when the law reformed that year, and they've trained thousands of students through the program since.
Their flagship offering is CPL certification training. Live Safe Academy is an approved Criminal Justice Training provider by the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards. Their instructors include the former State Chair of Education for one of the primary organizations responsible for concealed carry rights in Michigan. You get both the legal requirements and practical methods for carrying safely and responsibly.
Most gunfights don't happen at 25 yards in good lighting. Live Safe Academy's Target Focused Shooting (TFS) workshops teach you to shoot effectively under the conditions that actually occur: close range (within 10 feet most of the time), high stress, low light, multiple assailants, and rapid movement.
The TFS program comes in two formats:
- •3-hour Fundamentals – Skill development based on physiological and psychological responses to survival stress
- •8-hour workshop – Includes force-on-force combat simulations with protective gear and Airsoft training guns
You'll practice against interactive assailants in realistic scenarios to test your judgment and reflexes when it matters.

Their Gun Safety course covers the essential principles for anyone in a home with firearms. Topics include safe handling across all major firearm designs, ammunition types, cleaning and care, storage options, and guidance for parents teaching children about firearm safety.
