Taylor Pistol Club has been running competitive pistol events in Taylor, Michigan for decades. They host the 39th Annual Lt. Joseph Beesley Memorial PPC Match, drawing hundreds of shooters annually. The 2024 event alone brought in 316 competitors, including 34 female shooters, 84 new competitors, and 67 law enforcement officers. Beyond PPC, they also run their own BUG Match and maintain active Bullseye and Action Pistol programs.
Outdoor Range (May 1 – September 30) - Located at 16300 Racho Road, Taylor, MI (behind Taylor Transfer Station) - 25-yard and 50-yard lines - Magnum rounds allowed
Indoor Range (October 1 – April 30) - Located at 25555 Northline Road, Taylor, MI (same building as Taylor Animal Shelter) - Marked as City of Taylor Police Range

Bullseye Precision-focused marksmanship on concentric circle targets. Demands steady grip, breath control, clean trigger pull, and stable stance. Every shot requires intense concentration—minor errors lose points.
Action Pistol (Practical/Combat Shooting) Dynamic sport simulating self-defense scenarios. Tests speed, accuracy, and tactical decision-making under pressure. Competitors shoot multiple target arrays with movement, cover, and reloading drills.
PPC (Police Practical Combat) Training and competition emphasizing practical handgun skills, law enforcement tactics, and situational awareness. Taylor Pistol Club engages both civilians and police officers in a positive, supportive environment.
Taylor Pistol Club hosts one of the largest indoor PPC tournaments in the US, creating unique opportunities for law enforcement and civilian shooters to compete together.
New Member Dues: $110 Existing Member Dues: $95 (includes 10 work hours + $50 mandatory improvement dues). Members unable to work 10 hours pay $140. Seniors (65+) and board members exempt from work requirements. Club credits $4.50 per volunteer hour toward annual dues.
How to Join: 1. Visit during range hours and introduce yourself 2. Ask for the Range Officer (RO) or Board member 3. Shoot at least one time to demonstrate safe gun handling (safety is paramount) 4. Get your application signed by the RO and a board member 5. Submit application with dues
New Shooter Requirements: - Bring an unloaded pistol (.22 acceptable; no magnum rounds) - Leave gun in trunk until RO approves - Only remove from bag when RO instructs - RO evaluates safety only—not score or accuracy
Free Instruction Available New shooters interested in learning or exploring a specific discipline can request a training plan from the Range Officer.
Taylor Pistol Club actively supports local charities through fundraising events. Their annual PPC match raises significant funds for the Penrickton Center for Blind Children, along with donations to Thin Blue Line of Michigan and Goodfellows. The club also maintains and enhances Taylor Police Department ranges, which serve as training grounds for multiple law enforcement agencies.
