Chelsea Rod & Gun Club has operated continuously for nearly 90 years as a 501(c)(3) non-profit sportsmen's organization. Harvey Murphy served as the first president. The club was formally incorporated in 2003 and today operates on 73.86 acres of property on Lingane Road in Chelsea, Michigan—61 acres from the original purchase plus 12.86 acres donated by member Walter Zeeb in 2000.

The clubhouse is open to the public only during scheduled events. Club members enjoy year-round access.
The club hosts a rotating schedule of competitive and recreational shoots:

The club maintains an ongoing commitment to hunter education through Michigan DNR-certified instructors. Stu Kenewell, the club's lead hunter education instructor for 36 years, was named the 2023 Michigan DNR Hunter Education Instructor of the Year after certifying thousands of students over 38 years of volunteer service.

The club recently started a hunting dog program with retrievers, pointers, and beagles. Members participate in training sessions, preserve hunts, and Northern Michigan grouse hunts.
