Jackson County Outdoor Club

Jackson County Outdoor Club sits on a sprawling property in Jackson, Michigan, offering members access to forests, fields, waterways, and private Ackerson Lake. The club caters to hunters, anglers, archers, campers, and shooters—basically anyone who spends time in the outdoors.

Members get 365/24/7 access to club grounds, ranges, and private Ackerson Lake with fishing available both winter and summer.

• •Trap Range - Open Wednesday nights April through October. Two trap machines with shooting starting at 5 PM. Cost is $5 for adults and $4 for youth (under 18) per round of 25 clay pigeons. Members can also bring their own hand thrower or portable machine. Free pizza at the final shoot of the season.

• •Rifle Range - Open sunrise to sunset every day of the year (no shooting Sundays until noon due to nearby church services). Shoot at any distance up to 200 yards. Covered pavilion at 100 yards. Bring your own targets—no glass allowed. Rarely crowded due to generous operating hours.

• •Pistol Range - Covered pavilion with 10 shooting stations at 25 yards. Open sunrise to sunset year-round (same Sunday morning restriction). Can shoot closer distances if you're alone or others agree. Mesh wire target attachment area maintained by the club.

• •3D Archery Range - 30 shooting stations at varying distances with 3D animal targets of different sizes. Both elevated and ground-level stations. Open early spring through late fall. Sunday sanctioned shoots open to the public with prizes awarded in multiple classes. Breakfast usually available during shoots.

• •Indoor Archery - Available during club sanctioned shoots only, 20-yard maximum distance. Youth archery program in late winter/early spring for members and non-members (if space available).

Memberships run calendar year and must renew by January 31st. New members apply by mail; renewals can be done online with PayPal or credit card (plus $6 processing fee).

Two banquet halls for events. Working member rates are $250 (lower hall) and $50 (upper hall) with minimum 15 work tickets earned previous year. Non-working member rates are $500 (lower hall) and $200 (upper hall). Public can also rent. Check calendar for availability.

Recent security upgrades include surveillance cameras and a gated entrance restricting access to firearm ranges. All members and guests must sign in/out at the clubhouse entrance. Guests pay $5 per visit to help cover range costs. Non-members caught trespassing will be prosecuted.
