West Walker Sportsman Club is a member-run, volunteer-operated non-profit that's been a staple of West Michigan shooting sports. Located at O-599 Leonard St. NW in Grand Rapids, it's just 10 minutes from downtown and operates 7 days a week (excluding some holidays).
Rifle & Pistol Ranges: - 7-yard pistol-only range - 15/25-yard pistol and rifle sighting range - 50-meter rifle range - 100-meter rifle range - 200-meter rifle range - 20-yard indoor pistol range (for special events) - Some outdoor ranges are covered for weather protection - No hourly range fees for members—unlimited use with membership
Shotgun Fields (Open to Public): - 2 trap fields with wobble trap and doubles trap capability - 2 skeet fields - 5-stand with changing target menus (rabbits, midis, battues, standards) - Disabled-accessible with lights for night shooting - Voice activation on trap fields; pullers provided on skeet fields - Handicap trap available with marked cement pathways
Archery & Airgun: - Indoor archery range (open to public during clubhouse hours) - Outdoor archery (members only) - 3D archery course (seasonal) - Walk-through 25-target airgun course
New shooters welcome—staff and regulars typically help newcomers learn the fundamentals at no extra cost.

Shotgun Field Pricing (Open to Public): - Skeet: $5 associate / $3 junior / $9 non-member - Trap: $5 associate / $3 junior / $9 non-member - Trap Doubles (50 targets): $10 associate / $6 junior / $18 non-member - 5-Stand: $6 associate / $6 junior / $10 non-member - Indoor Archery: $4 associate / $2 junior / $8 non-member - 3D Archery: Free for members, league shooting only for non-members
Memberships are valid for 365 days from purchase date and include your spouse and children under 17. Children must be supervised at all times.
Clubhouse Hours: - Wednesday: 9am-12pm, 6pm-10pm - Saturday: 10am-2pm - Sunday: 10am-2pm
- •Outdoor Ranges: Hours vary seasonally (7am-7:30pm in summer, 9am-5pm in winter). Last shotgun line goes out 30 minutes before closing.
Access Requirements: - Members sign in at Range Office with membership card - May be asked to show driver's license or photo ID - Eye and ear protection required - Guests not allowed on outdoor ranges due to insurance/liability regulations - Range monitors on site enforce rules and verify membership
West Walker is run entirely by volunteer Charter Members. It's a 501(c)(3) non-profit with no paid staff. The club actively recruits new members interested in becoming Charter Members to help sustain operations.
Range Maintenance Standards: - Brass and ammo boxes must be picked up by shooters - Spent metallic cases go in red metal containers at each line - Non-metallic trash in barrels by each range - Duds (misfires) never go in trash—they can injure grounds crew
Important Restrictions: - Only target loads with #7½ shot or smaller (8, 9, etc.) allowed on shotgun fields - No ammunition or gun rentals - Club does not sell ammo - Range fees waived for members on outdoor ranges - Members only on outdoor rifle/pistol ranges
- •Trap and skeet leagues run winter and spring with banquets following competitions

Cash, personal checks, Visa, MasterCard, and Discover accepted at clubhouse and Range Office.
The club has an associated 501(c)(3) charitable organization that raises tax-deductible funds for youth education, women, physically challenged shooters, and conservation programs. 100% of donations go to the mission—board members volunteer without compensation.
