Full description and what we offer
Mark Ehlen is a Certified United States Concealed Carry Association Instructor offering MN Permit to Carry classes that exceed state requirements. Classes run 9am-2pm in Maple Grove at the Law Enforcement Training Facility and cover both classroom instruction and live-fire qualification on the same day.
This isn't a rubber-stamp CCW class. Students cover:
- •Where and when you can legally carry
- •When deadly force is justified under Minnesota law (the 5 conditions)
- •Safe gun handling, storage, and loading/unloading
- •Choosing the right gun for your situation
- •Grip, stance, and accuracy fundamentals
- •Situational awareness (how not to become a victim)
- •Fight-or-flight physiology and stress effects
- •What to say to 911 and responding officers
Beginners with zero experience get full foundational training in a non-threatening environment. Students regularly leave nervous and exit shooting well with real confidence.
Experienced permit holders renewing their 5-year permit report learning something new every time. Mark's training material uses colorful photos, illustrations, and videos—not boring PowerPoint slides.
- •MN DNR Firearm Safety Instructor
- •NRA Range Safety Officer
- •Certified Law of Self Defense – Minnesota
- •High School Trap Shooting Coach

Add a Florida Non-Resident Permit for just $20 more. Your MN permit is currently recognized in 30 states.
- •Valid driver's license or state ID
- •Your own handgun (if you have one) and ammo, OR rent one for $10
- •That's it—no written test, no hidden fees, no sales tax catch (well, except sales tax)
There's no written exam. Expert marksmanship isn't required. The only way to fail is refusing to follow the four universal safety rules. If you struggle with shooting requirements, Mark works with you individually (small additional fee may apply).
"Educational and fun, best instructor in MN. Wouldn't have wanted to learn the ins and outs of firearms from anyone else." — Charisma K.
"So far the best civilian firearms training experience I have ever had...covered far more information than I expected on situational awareness, safety, legal issues..." — Gary C.
