Suburban Sportsman's Club operates as a members-only shooting facility dedicated to hunters, competitive shooters, and firearms enthusiasts in the Twin Cities area. Located in Savage, MN, the club has maintained its focus on safe shooting practices and community for over 50 years.
The club maintains fully covered shooting areas across multiple distances:

All ranges feature electric gate access, logbook sign-in, and strict safety protocols. The facility includes a covered pavilion for staging and meals.
Permitted: - All calibers except .50 BMG - Paper targets at all ranges - Commercially manufactured reactive targets (distance-dependent) - Pop cans, metal spinners, and plastic bottles at 50-yard range - Clay pigeons on trap range (non-toxic shot only) - Shotguns welcome at sight-in events
Prohibited: - Fully automatic firearms - .50 caliber BMG ammunition - Exploding targets of any kind - Glass targets or containers - Shooting before 9 AM or after facility closing time - Alcohol or impaired use of any kind
Hearing and eye protection required at all times on any range.
To Join: - Must be 18+ and U.S. citizen - Active NRA membership required - Valid Minnesota Permit to Purchase OR Conceal Carry Permit (free from local sheriff) - $215 initial membership (includes $60 one-time initiation fee, $65 annual dues, $90 work escrow)
Annual Maintenance: - $65 annual dues - 6 hours volunteer work per year (or $15/hour for hours not worked) - Annual safety meeting attendance (offered Jan, Apr, Jul, Oct) - NRA membership must remain active
Applicants attend quarterly membership meetings (January, April, July, October) at the Savage American Legion (12375 Princeton Ave) at 6:00 PM. Present your completed application, introduce yourself to the board and members, then schedule a guided range walk-through covering all safety rules. Upon approval, receive membership card and electronic gate card.
New member meetings held quarterly. Show up early at 6:00 PM before the 7:30 PM general meeting.
The club opens facilities throughout the year for non-members:
Fall Rifle Sight-In (Oct 25-26, 2025) - 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM both days - $10 per firearm - Youth 16 & under: FREE (requires parent supervision + MN DNR Firearm Safety Certificate) - 50, 100, and 200-yard ranges available - Shotguns welcome
Youth Firearms Training - MN DNR Approved Classes - Dates TBD (contact Range Officer for details)
High School Trap Practice - Available for organized teams - Contact club for scheduling
Women-Only Range Days - Periodic public events
The club meets the second Wednesday of each month (except December) at 7:30 PM at the Savage American Legion. Annual volunteer events include:

The club enforces strict safety protocols. Violations result in warnings, membership suspension, or revocation with forfeited dues. All members sign in/out in the logbook. Minors must be supervised by adults and wear hearing/eye protection. Pets stay leashed behind the firing line. Members bring safety flags when downrange for target work.
