Columbia Law Enforcement Training Academy operates out of 182 Partnership Way in Columbia, Mississippi. The academy is directed by Clint McMurry, a Master Firearms Instructor with over 31 years of law enforcement experience and an FBI-certified firearms instructor from Camp Smith, New York.
The academy's signature offering is their Enhanced Concealed Carry course. In Mississippi, legal residents who pass a background check can obtain a standard concealed carry permit, but an "enhanced" endorsement allows carry in significantly more locations. The course covers:
Students bring their own firearm, holster, and one box of ammunition. Ear protection is provided if needed.

Clint McMurry (Director) – Master Firearms Instructor, State Certified Master Instructor in defensive measures, tactical driving, physical fitness, firearms, CPR/First Aid, and active shooter response. Former Columbia Police Chief and deputy director of the Southern Regional Public Safety Institute. Also lead firearms instructor for the Federal Air Marshal Service Newark division.
Jason Kessler (Staff Instructor) – 25-year law enforcement veteran with 21 years training experience. Master Firearms Instructor in handgun, shotgun, rifle, and tactical weapons. Former Chief Deputy at Marion County Sheriff's Office where he organized the department's first certified Special Response Team in 2006. Currently Captain with Lamar County Sheriff's Office and Director of Training.
Mike Purvis (Staff Instructor) – 21 years law enforcement experience, 13 years training. Mississippi Law Enforcement Officers Training Academy graduate (2001). Lieutenant with Lamar County Sheriff's Department. Certified in handgun, shotgun, patrol rifle, Basic and Advanced SWAT, tactical driving, tactical vehicle intervention, spike strips, and active shooter response. Former SRT Master Operator and Entry Commander.
