Primos Hunting

In 1963, an 11-year-old Will Primos made his first duck call after hunting in green timber with his Uncle Gus. By 1976, he was selling handmade turkey mouth calls for $20 apiece out of a sporting goods store in Jackson, Mississippi. A hunter from Pennsylvania bought one, took it back to his store, and suddenly Primos had national distribution.

Demand exploded. By 1979, Primos Yelpers needed a small staff just to keep up. In 1983, Will pioneered instructional audio tapes of actual hunts—a revolutionary marketing move at the time. That strategy took the company past $1 million in sales and established Primos as the standard for game calls.

What started as hand-crafted tin beer can calls became Primos Hunting Calls with nationwide sales reps, widespread dealer networks, and the industry-recognized motto: Speak The Language.
