HS-Custom

HS-Custom is a small shop in Joplin staffed by two dedicated craftsmen who build custom handguns and handle general gunsmithing work. One of the owners is active military, so the shop operates part-time by appointment—but that's intentional. They keep the workload light to ensure reasonable turnaround times and to actually meet with clients face-to-face about their projects.

• •Custom 1911 work is their specialty. They've built a reputation for innovative, eye-catching revolver work on both DA and single-action designs. If you want a defensive handgun elevated to the next level—or a true full-custom build just for the joy of ownership—they're the shop for it.

Beyond the 1911 and revolvers, they work on Glocks, S&W M&P models, Springfield guns, and most modern polymer-based firearms. Custom aftermarket parts installation, trigger work, sight cuts, checkering, and precision TIG welding are all in-house capabilities.

Unlike many specialty shops, they handle general gunsmithing on anything that needs work—including restoration. Got a rusty .22 that belonged to your grandfather? They'll fix it. They can advise whether a classic gun should stay original, be lightly restored, or fully customized. Some guns you'd think are too valuable actually make excellent base guns for custom work.
