Full description and what we offer
Reno Rod & Gun Club is a tight-knit group of outdoorsmen and women built around three pillars: fishing, shooting sports, and a genuine love for Nevada's wilderness. They're not a retail shop or public range—they're a members-only club focused on camaraderie, skill-building, and getting people outside.
The club hosts bi-monthly shooting events at the Regional Shooting Facility in Reno, Nevada. Whether you're sighting in a rifle, practicing pistol drills at close distance, or testing long-range accuracy, there's a format for you.
What to expect: - Long-distance rifle targets and close-distance pistol practice - All first-time attendees complete a mandatory safety course - Certified Range Safety Officers (RSOs) supervise events - Eye and ear protection required at all times - No alcohol or substances allowed at the range - Firearms transported unloaded; handled only at range benches - Bring your own firearms, ammunition, and hearing/eye protection
The club is actively recruiting and training new Range Safety Officers to share supervisory duties and make events run smoother for everyone.
Fishing events run seasonally (spring through fall) and range from relaxed afternoons on the Truckee River to fly fishing outings around Reno and Lake Tahoe. The club welcomes both traditional anglers and fly fishing enthusiasts at all skill levels.
Fishing trip requirements: - Valid Nevada fishing license - Your own rod, reel, and tackle (or ask ahead—club members will help) - Waders, waterproof boots, or non-slip shoes - Polarized sunglasses, hat, sunscreen, water, and snacks - Respect for local catch limits and leave-no-trace principles - Willingness to arrive on time for group meetups
The club partners with Green Gulch Ranch in Sierra Valley, California—a premier hunting property perfect for upland bird hunting. The high desert terrain offers excellent seasonal hunting opportunities, and the ranch also has rifle and pistol ranges for members who want to sharpen their marksmanship between hunts.
RRGC hosts hands-on instruction on: - Firearm safety and handling - Fishing and fly fishing basics - Gear prep and maintenance - Shooting fundamentals for all skill levels
All classes are taught in a supportive environment—no experience necessary.
Members gather monthly at local Reno establishments for food, drinks, and conversation:

The recruitment process: 1. Connect with a current member or reach out via their contact form 2. Attend a meet-and-greet (casual bar/restaurant gathering) 3. Get to know the crew in a relaxed, social setting 4. If it's a good fit, get sponsored in
What they're looking for: - Good attitude and willingness to learn - Solid sense of humor and dependability - Respect for traditions and fellow members - Someone who enjoys good company, cold drinks, and Nevada sunshine
"No checklist—just people who show up right and want to be part of something real."
Shoot dates, fish dates, and meetups are announced roughly one month in advance via email and the MemberDay portal. Frequency and formats vary based on range availability, weather, and member interest.
Skeet shooting is coming soon—a dynamic clay shooting challenge for members looking to try something new.
