Full description and what we offer
Green Mountain Shooting Preserve operates a competitive sporting clays layout designed to simulate real hunting scenarios. The rambling 16-station course winds through the Lakes Region with mountain backdrop views. They also run a fully automated 5-stand for shooters wanting to practice specific target presentations.
Unlike trap or skeet's regimented format, sporting clays throws clay targets through trees to mimic wild birds in flight—flushing pheasants, covey quail, bouncing rabbits, and driven grouse all built into the course design. This setup works for everyone from beginners picking up a shotgun for the first time to experienced wing shooters sharpening their skills.
Five individual hunting fields sit on the property planted with corn and ryegrass, separated by natural boundary lines. Each field gives your hunting party room to work without crossing paths with others. The preserve stocks pheasant, quail, chukar partridge, and Hungarian partridge.
Hunting season runs April 1 through December 31 (weather permitting). Morning hunts run 8am-12pm; afternoon hunts 1pm-5pm. They provide:
Duck season features released mallards on the backflows of the Pine River. You'll shoot from blinds over decoys while a guide talks birds into range. Experienced retrievers handle the water work. No experience necessary—GMSP teaches everything from waterfowl basics to shot selection.
