Full description and what we offer
Ironsights Academy handles the training side of New Jersey's concealed carry process. Their core offering is the New Jersey Permit To Carry (PTC) Qualification course—the live-fire instructor-led qualification you need to apply for your NJ concealed carry permit. It's a half-day course (9 AM–2 PM) for $150, with requalification sessions available for those renewing expired permits at $75.
Classes run at two facilities: - Indian Mills Deer Club (671 Atsion Road, Shamong, NJ 08088) — main training location - Jersey Devil Outfitters — hosts advanced courses
Each covers safety fundamentals, grip/stance/trigger control, ammunition components, malfunction recognition and clearing, and live-fire practice on the range.
These focus on refining handling skills, building muscle memory, and honing accuracy.
Specialized Instruction - Dynamic Defensive Pistol Level I: $200 (4 hours) — Self-defense mindset, concealed carry tactics, gunfight readiness, defensive drills and scenarios - Precision Rifle I: $800 (2-day course) — Long-range precision rifle fundamentals, optics, ballistic calculators, data book use, live fire past 1 mile (1,800 yards) - Running & Gunning Series: $200 (6 hours, invitation-only advanced training) — High round-count sessions combining pistol/rifle/shotgun with multiple targets, distances, dynamic movement, steel targets, and timed drills
Range Officer & Instructor Certification - NRA Range Safety Officer: $165 (full-day, non-shooting) - NRA Chief Range Safety Officer: $185 (evening, non-shooting) - NRA Basic Instructor Training (BIT): $200 (half-day) — required before discipline-specific instructor certification
Multi-State CCW - New York/Maryland/Utah CCW Combo: $200 each state (New York State + NYC, Maryland, or Utah) - Utah CCW Permit: $125 (non-resident, covers 34 states)
New Jersey PTC Qualification courses run multiple times per month — typically 2–3 weekend sessions available. Check their course schedule for current dates.
Courses are scheduled year-round with regular Saturday/Sunday sessions. Half-day PTC courses run 9 AM–2 PM. Full-day NRA basics run 9 AM–5 PM or 9 AM–6 PM depending on course. Precision Rifle spans two days (one day at Indian Mills Deer Club, one day in Carbondale, PA).
Ironsights pairs classroom instruction with extensive live-fire range time. Courses emphasize hands-on practice, safety fundamentals, and practical application. The Running & Gunning series and advanced courses allow alumni to bring their own drills alongside instructor-provided exercises.
They also partner with U.S. Law Shield and offer gift certificates for those looking to give firearms training as a gift. FAQs cover New Jersey concealed carry permit requirements and the application process.
