Full description and what we offer
Stafford Firearms Training LLC operates from 50 Ringler Ave in Chatsworth, NJ, with a second training location in Ocean Acres/Manahawkin. Instructor Bill Wend is USCCA certified and teaches NRA-approved courses across New Jersey—plus he travels nationally for group sessions (Pennsylvania, Florida, California, Montana, Texas, and Maryland in 2026).
This isn't a range with classroom rooms tacked on. Wend structures training around what you actually need:
- •New shooters start with NRA Gun Safety Seminars (2 hours classroom + live fire, $50 total)
- •CCW candidates take 8-hour New Jersey CCW classes ($150) or combined NJ/Utah courses ($250)
- •Current permit holders get CCW recertification courses ($125) or the "Now What?" follow-up for advanced skills ($125)
- •Private training at $125/hour or $175 for 2 hours
- •NRA Range Safety Officer certification ($150, 9 hours, experienced shooters only)
Hamilton Rod & Gun Club (founded 1936) operates from the same Chatsworth location—membership still $300/year for fishing, hunting, and shooting access.
| Course Type | Duration | Price |
|---|---|---|
| NRA Gun Safety | 2 hours | $50 |
| NJ CCW | 1 day | $150 |
| NJ/Utah CCW | 1 day | $250 |
| CCW Recert | 3 hours | $125 |
| Private (1 hr) | 1 hour | $125 |
| Private (2 hr) | 2 hours | $175 |
| Use of Force | 2 hours | $100 |
| USCCA Home Defense | 2 hours | $50 mini-class |
Classes cover practical material:
- •Self-defense fundamentals and defensive shooting mechanics
- •Gear and gadgets (holster selection, carry methods, storage)
- •Use of force law specific to New Jersey
- •Violent encounters and aftermath (legal considerations post-incident)
- •FBI Q target qualifications on live fire days
- •Home and personal protection planning
Small group classes (typically 4-8 students) keep instruction personal. Private sessions available for individuals or large groups at your location.
Wend also sells firearms—he holds Federal Firearms License #02603 and NJ Retail License #4482. The online shop carries Beretta APX pistols ($309-$409) and other stock.
Weeknight, Saturday, and Sunday classes available on your schedule. Text 609-978-0388 for current dates and custom arrangements. Most NRA classes can be registered through nrainstructors.org; USCCA courses register at usconcealedcarry.com.
In-person classroom work balances with range time—expect to bring 100 rounds of ammunition and your own NJ-legal pistol to live fire sessions.
