The Northern New Jersey Revolver League started in 1953 when ten police departments surrounding the Riverdale area formed a training and competition league. What began as the Northern New Jersey Police Revolver League has evolved into an active civilian league focused on .38 caliber revolver competitive shooting, while maintaining six of the original police department teams.
Matches follow three courses of fire using B22 Police "L" targets:
- •Slow Fire: 25 yards, 2 strings of 5 rounds in 5 minutes
- •Timed Fire: 25 yards, 2 strings of 5 rounds in 15 seconds per string
- •Rapid Fire: 15 yards, 2 strings of 5 rounds in 11 seconds per string
All shooting follows NRA Precision Pistol Rules with safety as the priority. The Range Officer has authority to call "Cease Fire" at any time if safety is at risk.
