Borderland Outfitters is owned and operated by Matt and Kaitlyn Ellis. Matt started hunting and trapping at age 10 and has spent the last 12 years guiding hunters across New Mexico and parts of Colorado. Borderland Outfitters offers guided hunts for:
Hunting weapons available: archery, rifle, muzzleloader
Private land tags available in South Central New Mexico. Guide services on public land throughout New Mexico and the Gila National Forest (units 15, 16A, 16B, 16C, 16D, 16E, 17, 18, 34, 36, 37). The Gila Wilderness spans millions of acres in Southwest New Mexico (established June 3, 1924). No motorized or mechanized vehicles allowed in wilderness areas—expect hunting on foot, by horse, mule, ATV, or truck depending on location and terrain.

Elk Hunt (Fully Outfitted) - $7,000 per hunter (5-6 days, private or public tags)
Antelope Hunt (Fully Outfitted) - $5,000 per hunter (private tag included) - $3,500 per hunter (public tag must be drawn)
Bear Hunt (Fully Outfitted) - $5,000 per hunter (with hounds) - $4,500 per hunter (spot and stalk)
Navigating New Mexico's hunting license and draw system is complex. Borderland Outfitters includes free application assistance service with trip requests. After 20 years handling New Mexico permits, they know the process inside and out—drawing the right hunt matters.
Bear and ibex hunts are their most physically demanding options, requiring good condition and stamina for steep terrain and extended hiking. Most other hunts offer spot-and-stalk options with vehicle support.
