Full description and what we offer
Al Jenis started shooting .22 rifles at 12 years old with his father, learning early what gun ownership really means. After two years as Military Police carrying a .45 ACP, he spent years shooting trap, skeet, and hunting before realizing young hunters needed real safety instruction. He became an NYS Hunter Safety Instructor, then expanded into comprehensive firearms training. Today, Shoot Smart Safely serves Erie, Niagara, Genesee, and Chautauqua counties across 18+ locations in Western NY.
Their courses go beyond checking boxes. Pistol permit classes cover:

- •Beyond the basics — They cover legal responsibilities, tactical thinking, and mindset—not just how to pull a trigger
- •NRA and NY State certified — Current certifications for all course types offered
- •Arizona pistol permit certified — Additional credential for reciprocal training
