Own Nessmuk's Wilderness Guides?
01 // DETAILS
Full description and what we offer
Nessmuk's Wilderness Guides offers guided whitetail deer hunts in the northern Adirondacks—terrain so challenging and sparsely hunted that fluorescent orange isn't even required by law during rifle season. That's how few hunters are out here.
They hunt using "Stalk and Spot"—a still-hunting approach where you move slowly and quietly through terrain, using natural features like slides, ridges, brooks, and gullies for cover. Your guide positions you strategically to complement your hunting technique. Shots happen at 50 yards or less in heavily wooded areas. This is ground-level, fair-chase hunting—no ranching, no guaranteed kills.
"Harvesting a whitetail deer, on foot, from the ground, up close and in a heavily wooded area is one of the great challenges and accomplishments any deer hunter can have."
Limited stand hunts from climber or ladder stands are available upon request.

Nessmuk's is direct about their hunts: they're for conditioned hunters ready for challenging terrain and the real possibility of going home empty. The Adirondacks are unforgiving country. The deer here are old, smart, and have few hunters to contend with. If you want a hunt that demands everything—fitness, skill, patience, and woodsmanship—this is the hunt.
