Kalicoontie Rod & Gun Club has anchored the Hudson Valley shooting and fishing community for more than nine decades. Located at 333 Schneider Road in Livingston, New York, the club operates as a membership-based organization dedicated to organized rifle, handgun, shotgun, and bow shooting—with strong fishing and conservation components woven throughout.
"The purpose of this organization shall be the encouragement of organized rifle, handgun, shotgun, and bow shooting among the members and citizens of our community, with a view towards a better knowledge on the part of such members and citizens of the safe handling and proper care of firearms as well as improved marksmanship and preservation of shooting and fishing sports."
Shooting Competitions - Spring and Fall turkey shoots (Nov 2nd annual event, 10 AM start) - Multiple competition categories: .12g and .20g birdshot, slugs, centerfire rifle, .22 rimfire pistol, and .22 rimfire rifle - Entry fee: $3 per event - Prize tables stocked with frozen turkeys, hams, pork loins, kielbasa, and sports gear - Fall raffle drawings with multiple prize tiers - Club supplies .12g, .20g, and .22 ammo; shooters bring their own slugs and centerfire ammunition
Hunter Safety & Education - NY Hunter Education (Hunter Safety) courses required for purchasing hunting licenses in New York - Covers safety techniques, firearm responsibility, and proper handling of guns, muzzleloaders, crossbows, and bows
Youth Programs - Annual Youth Trout Derby held at member ponds (spring event, typically April) - Partnerships with NYS Department of Environmental Conservation environmental camps - Sponsorships for youth attendees at week-long camps combining hunter education, environmental learning, and outdoor skills
Social & Community Events - Annual Game Dinner (typically February 28th): members contribute dishes, raffles, door prizes, 50/50 draws, firearms raffles - Regular membership meetings (Tuesday evenings at 7 PM) - Adopt-a-Highway program: members maintain 2-mile stretch of Route 9 in Livingston four times yearly - Christmas Party with Santa for members and families
