Full description and what we offer
Lima Gun Club is a New York state-incorporated non-profit that's been supporting trap and rifle shooting for its membership. Located just off Route 15A north of Lima village—about 30 minutes from downtown Rochester and 5 minutes from I-390 Exit 10—the club provides facilities and organization for competitive and casual shooting.
The club operates:
All ranges are members-only. The club maintains cease-fire warning lights, gun racks, and target mounting systems for organized competitions.
Lima Gun Club participates in: - Livingston County Trap League (full schedule) - Inland Waters Trap League (full schedule)
The club hosts several trap meets throughout the year and publishes the Livingston County Trap League schedule on their website.
Spring through fall, the club runs casual monthly competitions (usually Thursday evenings) with bragging rights rather than prizes. Currently limited to rimfire calibers:
Competitions use club-designed targets and in-house games. The club is developing centerfire and pistol competitions for 2026 and is actively recruiting event planners and coordinators.
Looking to help: The club needs volunteers for event planning, scoring, operations, kitchen, and cleanup. Contact Jamie at [email protected] if you're interested.
Shooters sign in, pick targets, and note their gun specifications. Here's the basic process:
1. Shooters warm up on practice targets at the 50-yard berm 2. Groups of three shooters mount their official targets and shoot when the range is clear 3. Shooters collect targets, call cease-fire, and the next group rotates in 4. Bolts stay open and unloaded during cease-fire; guns go in racks between groups
Range rules for competitions: - Guns always pointed downrange or in racks - Cease-fire light system mandatory (no exceptions) - Single point of support under barrel only (no bags at butt) - All targets must be in-line and within 3 yards of berm face - 10–15 minute time limit per shooter on benches - No alcohol on the 24/7 facility
Food and beverages are donation-funded by participants.

The club's membership has invested in ongoing upgrades:
The club publishes a full calendar of trap league shoots, monthly competitions, membership meetings, and special events. Livingston County Trap Shoot is one of the major annual events (held February 22, 8 a.m.–1 p.m., with food available). Volunteers are always needed for scoring, operations, kitchen, and cleanup.
New Member Orientations (NMOs) are held in-person, and all new members must attend before gaining full facility access.

Members have turned this facility into what it is through years of volunteer work, donations of time and money, and organized shooting programs. It's a working club, not a commercial range.
