Full description and what we offer
North Star Sportsman's Club operates as a private, member-run organization on nearly 100 acres near Walker, New York, just a short drive from Rochester. Founded on principles of wildlife conservation and responsible outdoor recreation, the club has built facilities that serve serious shooters, hunters, and their families.
Shooting Disciplines: - Sporting Clays — Charter member of the Hunter's Tour Sporting Clays League with events September through May. Mixed terrain course with challenging target presentations and friendly league competition. - Trap & Skeet — Regulation trap field and NSSA-standard skeet field. Seasonal leagues and fun shoots throughout the year. - 10-Stand — Double-deck setup with portable traps, overhead towers, and varied targets. Built for fast-paced shooting and reaction training. - Rifle & Pistol — Open to members during regular shooting hours. - 3D Archery — Natural wooded course running spring through fall. North Star participates in the Seven Nations Archery League. - Game Preserve — Limited fall memberships with regular pheasant stocking for upland hunting.
The property includes wooded trails, open shooting areas, a clubhouse, and a large outdoor pavilion. Members have access to year-round facilities built and maintained by the membership itself.
North Star runs NYS Hunter Safety courses open to members and the public, hosts youth and scouting programs with camping and shooting sports instruction, and partners with local organizations on rabies clinics and community events. Conservation work is woven into club operations—members volunteer on habitat maintenance and wildlife initiatives.

This isn't a commercial range—it's a member-owned club where shooters and hunters have a direct voice in operations. The diversity of disciplines (clay sports, rifle, pistol, archery, hunting) means families can do different activities on the same property. Their long history (celebrated 50th anniversary in 2009) and active league schedule build community and skill development.
