Safe Firearms Training LLC runs pistol courses taught by Justin Kilgore, a former USMC Primary Marksmanship Instructor with certifications from the NRA, Sig Sauer Academy, and as a Range Safety Officer. He's also a competitive shooter in USPSA, IDPA, Steel Challenge, and 3-gun—and holds advanced medical certifications (ATLS, ACLS) as an Emergency Medicine PA.
NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting - 8-hour course with 1-2 hours of range time - Covers fundamentals, safe handling, and pistol selection - Offered at both Lake Placid and Tupper Lake ranges
NRA CCW (Concealed Carry Certification) - 16 hours classroom + 2+ hours range time (NY State requirement) - Limited to 8 students per class - You'll shoot multiple handguns in different sizes to find what works for your mission - All firearms and ammunition included—no live rounds in classroom - Satisfies NY State training mandate for concealed carry permits
Reinforce fundamentals or advance to shooting one-handed, on the move, with cover and concealment, multiple target engagement, and speed drills. Prerequisites: solid foundation in safe gun handling.

CCW classes run 8am-5pm both days. Bring layers, a sturdy gun belt, eye/ear protection, and your own lunch. Electronic earmuffs recommended for range communication.
