Full description and what we offer
Stillwater Rod & Gun Club was established in 1935 and incorporated in 1951. Located at 1664 River Road in Easton, NY, it's one of the region's longest-standing sportsmen's organizations—built by people who care about shooting, fishing, boating, archery, and teaching the next generation.
The club operates rifle and shotgun ranges with NRA-approved targets only. Pistol and revolver shooting available. Members fish, hunt waterfowl (hunting on club grounds is no longer permitted), practice archery, and bring their families to enjoy the outdoors together.
Every Saturday from January through mid-April, the club hosts its annual Chicken Shoots. Two divisions:
| Division | Caliber | Distance | Sights |
|---|---|---|---|
| Iron Sight | .22 | 25 yards | Iron sights |
| Scoped | .22 | 50 yards | Rifle scope |
These shoots are open to the public—bring friends and family. When shoots are running, the range closes to all other shooting (no pistols, no shotguns, no sighting in rifles). This is a 40-year tradition that's non-negotiable. Once the shoots wrap for the day, the range reopens.
Two membership levels:
Monthly Meetings: First Tuesday of every month at 7:30pm. Many members arrive by 6:30pm to handle business beforehand. This is where new members get their keys and orientations happen.
Keys cannot be copied or loaned to non-members. If you break this rule, you're expelled immediately. Don't be "that guy." If a friend wants to shoot, they should join.
Camping/overnight stays require Board approval. $25/night charge for stays over 2 nights. The Riverside section can be rented for events—contact the Board for approval.
Stillwater emphasizes teaching safety to younger family members and neighbors. They've supported deployed soldiers with care packages and maintain an active forum for member discussions and questions.
