Asheville Armory's original operation dates to 1861, when it produced over 900 Enfield percussion muskets during the Civil War. The facility closed in 1865 after Union occupation. The modern iteration launched in 2014, operating from Riverside Drive in Asheville until relocating to a mobile operation in December 2025. Their classroom is based in Mars Hill.
