ECHO Training offers a complete progression of firearms training, from absolute beginners to defensive shooters. The curriculum focuses on core fundamentals that actually work under pressure—not range myths.
Introduction to Handgun Fundamentals ($125, 1-2 hours) This virtual or in-person class covers everything a new shooter needs before hitting the range: - 4 Universal Rules of Firearms Safety - Grip and stance (Weaver, Isosceles, Chapman) - Trigger control and sight alignment - Practical application drills with dummy rounds - Figure 8 drills for balance of speed and accuracy
No ammunition required. You just need a handgun.
FREE Concealed Carry Fighting Class (1 hour) This is the eye-opener. Most people get their CCH permit, holster their gun, and think they're done. This class shows exactly why that's not enough. You'll see why gun handling matters, what you're missing, and why CCH permit courses don't teach actual gun use. ECHO provides guns, holsters, eye/ear protection—or bring your own.
Concealed Carry Defense Part 1 ($175, 3-4 hours) This is where training gets real. You'll work with your actual carry gun and 300 rounds of ammo at locations like Take Aim Range in Pageland, SC. The course covers: - Drawing from concealment - Getting on target under pressure - Reholstering safely - Time from holster to first hit - Getting off the "X" - Threat identification and body mechanics - Speed and accuracy drills
Concealed Carry Defense Part 2 (Half day, $175) The advanced course builds weapon manipulation skills: - Loading, reloading, and tactical reloading - Malfunction clearing (failure to feed, double feed, stovepipe, failure to eject) - Multiple shooting positions (standing, kneeling, prone, lateral movement) - Shooting on the move - Cover vs. concealment and moving to cover - One-handed manipulation drills - 300 rounds of live fire
Classes held at Take Aim Range in Pageland, SC.
Teachers Only: Response to Active Shooter Events ($30, 3 hours) Developed from over 10 years of classroom lockdown experience. This course teaches educators practical responses to active shooter situations without firearms, focusing on real-world decisions and threat recognition.
Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED (Blended learning) Certified Red Cross instruction at Point Blank Range in Matthews. This is a blended course with online portion (1.5 hours on PC/tablet) plus in-class skill session. Max 6 students, and everyone gets their own manikin. Certificate valid for 2 years and meets OSHA workplace requirements.
They don't skip the hard parts. Their curriculum includes: - Press checking and dummy round use - Why you need different stances and when to use each - Trigger reset—the part most beginners mess up - Breath control and sight picture - The difference between speed and accuracy (it's not what you think) - Real defensive realities, not fantasy scenarios
"Just having the gun is no help to you if you have no idea how to use it."

They accept all skill levels—literally from "I've never held a gun" to "I carry every day." The progression makes sense: start with fundamentals, move to drawing and defensive techniques, then advanced positioning and one-handed work.
If you got your concealed carry permit and thought that was the end, the free class will change your mind. If you're serious about defensive capability, the full Part 1 and Part 2 sequence builds legitimate skills.
