Full description and what we offer
Make Your Shot Count (MYSC) operates concealed carry handgun classes in Fayetteville, NC under the instruction of Geary Chlebus, a certified firearms trainer with decades of law enforcement and military law enforcement background. Unlike abbreviated versions offered elsewhere, MYSC classes run a full 8 hours of instruction plus range time on class day—meeting and exceeding North Carolina's minimum standards.
The curriculum covers:
"The cost of the class was well worth paying especially after realizing my weaknesses." — Graduate

Hours: 8:00 AM–5:00 PM with lunch break around noon. Snacks and drinks allowed during instruction.
Cost: $79 per person (cash or credit cards). Textbook $10 additional. Range fees paid separately to facility (~$15).
You must bring a handgun and minimum 40 rounds of ammunition. If you don't own a gun, MYSC can provide a 9mm for qualification ($5 additional). Eye and ear protection and targets are included in the range cost.
Important: This class is NOT for beginners with little to no handgun experience. New shooters should take an Introduction to Handgun course first.
Geary Chlebus doesn't just teach mechanics. The class emphasizes the mental and legal realities of self-defense:
Students complete a self-evaluation before class asking: "What level of tactical/survival competence do you currently have?" and "Are you truly committed to pursuing training that requires commitment?" The goal is self-awareness about your actual skill level versus assumptions.
MYSC graduates consistently mention three things:
1. Real-world application: Classes use actual scenarios, not abstract theory. Students shoot from multiple positions to prove they can shoot defensively, not just at a static range. 2. Individual attention: Geary works with each student personally. Recent graduates include former military, complete beginners, and experienced shooters—all at different starting levels. 3. Legal education that sticks: Geary uses humor and relatable stories to make state law understandable. Multiple reviewers noted they "laughed and remembered the information."
"He not only taught about the laws but very informative about safety and gun handling. Not your normal shooting. Made you stand in different positions to prove you can still shoot safely and shoot defensively. Which is what this is all about anyway." — Roy H.
"He made the abundance of legal information easy to understand by using real life scenarios mixed with humor. We laughed a lot and remember the information as well." — Heike B.
Saturday classes at the Real Estate School location cap at 16 students, so reservation spots fill. Jim's Gun Range classes run on weekends and scattered dates. All-day Saturday sessions starting at 9 AM run through 7 PM with lunch break.
