Full description and what we offer
North State Shooting Club started with a specific purpose: the Adjutant General of North Carolina wanted more community involvement with the military. Members of the NC National Guard Rifle Team and four local civilians created NSSC to promote safe small arms skills, marksmanship, and sportsmanship through competitive shooting between military and civilian competitors. That mission hasn't changed in over 50 years.
"The club is known as an enjoyable shooting range with friendly shooters and great range control support."
They operate at Camp Butner National Guard Training Site, located 4.5 miles off I-85 near Durham—take Exit 189 or 191, then follow the green "NC National Guard Training Site" signs to 539 Roberts Chapel Rd, Stem, NC 27581.
North Carolina National Guard KD Range #4 features: - 50 firing points - Electrically operated targets - Firing distances: 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, 800, 900, 1000 yards - ShotMarker© e-target systems (new)
Pre-registration is required for matches so they can set up enough e-targets. They strongly encourage shooters to have a good zero on their rifle before arriving. Friday practice days before each match are perfect for zeroing on paper targets at the yardage you'll shoot.
NSSC runs a full calendar of high-power rifle matches throughout the year:
