Carolina Traditional Archers

Carolina Traditional Archers is North Carolina's oldest and largest traditional archery organization, founded in 1985 and located on 6.25 acres of wooded grounds in Conover, North Carolina. As a 501(c)(4) nonprofit corporation, CTA is dedicated to preserving and promoting the ancient art of traditional archery through competitive events, educational seminars, and community outreach.

CTA specializes exclusively in traditional archery using authentic equipment:

• •Longbows - Classic recurved or straight designs
• •Recurves - Modern traditional recurve bows
• •Selfbows - Single-piece wooden bows

Compound bows and modern hunting bows are not permitted on the range.

The organization hosts monthly 3D archery competitions featuring:

• •20-target courses with foam animal replicas
• •Realistic hunting settings that simulate field conditions
• •Game animal targets including deer, turkey, bear, elk, and more
• •Monthly competitions held the first Saturday of each month (with seasonal date adjustments)
• •Complimentary meals served during all shoots
• •Educational seminars covering archery techniques, wildlife management, and conservation

CTA is a members-and-guests-only facility. First-time visitors shoot and eat free. Membership options include:

• •Individual membership: $50/year
• •Family membership: $75/year (includes spouse and children under 18)

The club is managed by seven officers and maintains bylaws and standard operating procedures aligned with the North Carolina Bowhunters Association.

Since 2007, CTA has actively supported wildlife management through food plot maintenance at multiple Wildlife Management Areas including Warrior Creek, Smithy Creek, Fort Hamby, and W. Kerr Scott Reservoir.
