Dragon Creek Ranch

Dragon Creek Ranch is a family-owned hunting operation run by Butch and Deb Dick in the Sheyenne River Valley, located a short distance from Fargo. They offer guided hunts for trophy whitetail deer, elk, and fallow deer on a intensely managed high-fence preserve with hundreds of continuous acres.

Their whitetail herd is managed specifically for size and genetics. Deer range from yearlings to 6-year-olds, with many scoring over 300 inches in typical and non-typical antlers. Early season average bucks score 220" SCI, with their record bucks at 460" SCI and 373" SCI.

For elk, they offer Rocky Mountain bulls scoring 350-400" during the September-October rut.

They also offer all three color varieties of fallow deer: Chocolate, Spotted, and White.

All hunt packages include: - 3 days of guided hunting - 3 nights lodging in their 2021 lodge (5 bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms) - Home-cooked meals - Rifle/bow range verification on arrival - One-on-one guides (personally led by ranch owner)

You can hunt from deluxe heated box blinds, popup bow blinds, tree stands, or use spot-and-stalk methods. Both rifle and archery hunters are welcome. Allowed weapons: - Rifles (.243 caliber or larger, must be zeroed at 100 yards) - Shotguns - Pistols - Muzzleloaders - Bows - Crossbows

Their new lodge sits overlooking the property with views of trophy animals from the windows. All meals are home-cooked. The ranch spans rolling hills, oak woodlands, grasslands, ravines, creeks, and cattail sloughs—diverse terrain that keeps hunts challenging.

Butch Dick has lived in North Dakota his entire life and is an avid hunter with years of experience studying whitetail behavior. Deb moved to the ranch in 1999 and handles ranch operations, cooking, and runs Dragon Creek Grooming. Both are hands-on with every hunt—Butch personally guides hunts.
