PFC Training delivers the HOIST-C (Handgun Optic Instructor Skills & Tactics – Certification) program—a specialized two-day course for law enforcement handgun firearms instructors who need to bring their agencies into modern optics-based training.
The problem is simple: miniature red dot sights on handguns are far less intuitive than rifle-mounted optics. Buying the hardware is one thing. Training officers to use it effectively—and training instructors to teach it—is another. HOIST-C fills that gap.

Students are responsible for their own gear:
- •Duty firearm (minimum 1) with mounted optic and batteries
- •Three magazines minimum
- •500 rounds of ammunition minimum
- •Duty belt, holster, and associated kit (Blackhawk Serpa holsters prohibited)
- •Eye protection (both tinted and clear)
- •Electronic ear protection
- •Two high-output tactical flashlights (one handheld, one weapon-mounted optional)
- •Comprehensive note-taking materials
- •Lunch and snacks for each day
The curriculum emphasizes that adopting optic technology cannot end with a purchase and an owner's manual. HOIST-C sets officers up to win with solid foundational knowledge and practical, deployable tactics.
