Established in 1968, Lima SABRES Shooting Association (LSSA) is a private shooting club located just east of Lima, Ohio. While membership-based, they open most of their regularly occurring matches to the public for a nominal fee—making it easy to try different disciplines without joining first.
Director Eric Markley runs the shotgun side. SABRES has three trap houses equipped with current Pat Trap and LaPort machines, plus six additional machines (DoAll and Atlas models) capable of throwing single or double birds with wireless voice calls. Each house features the 27-yard line for handicap shooting and stadium lighting for evening sessions.
What they offer: - Weekly trap leagues and practice sessions (multiple times per week) - Seasonal 5-Stand shooting - Junior trap programs (partially funded by Ohio Department of Natural Resources)
Director Anthony Teodoseo manages handgun operations. Shooters can practice year-round outdoors or inside heated, enclosed shooting houses on both the 25-yard and 50-yard firing ranges. The club regularly hosts external training organizations offering CCW classes and professional shooting development.
Modified Practical Pistol Competition (M.P.P.C.): Lima SABRES runs an entry-level practical/tactical pistol match on the second Sunday of each month (May–October). New Member Process: Mandatory walk-through at approximately 6:15 p.m. covering LSSA rules and regulations, followed by introduction at the General Members Meeting (7 p.m., last Wednesday of month). No meetings held November or December.
General Members Meetings occur monthly (except Nov/Dec) and typically run 45 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes. Agendas include Director Reports, Club News, guest speakers, gun giveaways, raffles, and camaraderie with dinner before the meeting. The monthly Board Meeting follows; all members welcome to attend.
